Fluoride-Free Toothpaste: no fluoride in our products.
In the past few years, fluoride-free toothpaste has gained a lot of interest. For decades, clinical researchers and physicians believed that fluoride, added to water, toothpaste, and salt, would have a beneficial effect on dental health. Fluoride was considered a “nutrient.” Dentists and other healthcare practitioners believed that a lack of fluoride would lead to cavities – in the same way that a lack of calcium may lead to osteoporosis, or a lack of Vitamin D to rickets.
That view has changed by 180 degrees. Fluoride is now considered both non-beneficial, and a potential poison. You can have perfect teeth without consuming fluoridated water, fluoridated toothpaste, or any other fluoride-containing substance. The message is clear; no fluoride is best.
Now, you can purchase fluoride-free toothpaste online, and in some stores. Our brand not only has no fluoride, but it contains iodine, which is anti-viral, antibacterial and antimicrobial.
It is difficult to avoid fluoride. Most toothpastes contain it, and there are few – but there are some – fluoride-free toothpastes in the pharmacy and supermarket. Some.
In 2001, the Centers for Disease Control ruled that “the prevalence of dental caries in a population is not inversely related to the concentration of fluoride in (dental) enamel, and a higher concentration of enamel fluoride is not necessarily more efficacious in preventing dental caries.”
According to the European Commission on Health and Environmental Risks (2011, “Fluoride is not essential for human growth and development.” 97% of Western European countries have stopped water fluoridation, recognizing that fluoride is a systemic poison, not a nutrient.
There are political and economic reasons why the United States is so far behind Europe on this problem. Fluoride is potentially dangerous, and there are studies – over 64 of them – which have linked fluoride to reduced I.Q. in children. Have a look at these quick facts from fluoridealert.org.
To those of us who study iodine and its profoundly positive impact on I.Q. development of newborns, infants, and children (and adults as well), it’s no surprise that intelligence is negatively impacted by fluoride. Here’s a brief note on the biochemistry of iodine and fluoride.
Iodine is a necessary nutrient. It is critical – critical – for neuro-physiological development of the fetus, and essential for intellectual growth in youngsters. The same is true for adults. The reason is quite simple: no cell is born (or dies), without a molecule or two of iodine present. The brain cannot grow without adequate iodine.
Our brain does keep growing, as a child, an adult, or a newborn. In adults, the hippocampus continues to grow forever, if it has the right nutrients. And if it isn’t poisoned by the wrong ones.
Whether you are an adult, or a fetus, or a youngster, iodine is necessary for your life. The rate at which your body functions, consumes energy, breathes, digests, pumps blood, is directly related to the presence of iodine in your bloodstream. Without a few molecules of iodine present in your bloodstream, you would die quickly. Every mammal has a thyroid gland, and the thyroid – the master gland of the body – requires iodine and is designed for extracting and distributing iodine.
A brief glance at the Periodic Table of Elements will tell you that iodine, fluoride (or “fluorine”), chlorine and bromine are all in the same “class” of elements, called “halogens.” Generally, a lighter-weight element of the same class can, and often will, displace a higher-weight element of the same class. Fluorine (as fluoride) can and does displace iodine in the body. Fluorine – a poison – can make it impossible for your body to make use of iodine, an essential nutrient.
Dozens of solid clinical studies have shown that I.Q. is directly influenced by iodine intake. This is true for all mammals, from cows to cats, from dogs to pigs. Without sufficient iodine, baby animals (and humans) will die, or be born physically damaged. You don’t need very much iodine for health – but you must have some. And because you don’t NEED much, it’s easy for fluoride to displace iodine, and wreak havoc with the body’s normal growth and development.
Recognizing this problem, a few toothpaste manufacturers – mostly small companies – are now producing fluoride-free toothpaste. To the best of our knowledge, Iodine Products is the ONLY company producing an anti-viral iodized version of such a toothpaste. Iodine is a powerful antibacterial and anti-viral, and it can help to combat the current spate of flu-like viral infections. Your mouth and salivary glands store iodine and use it against diseases. But of course, you must have enough iodine for your salivary glands to hold on to.
That’s why Iodine Products provides an iodized toothpaste – to keep your mouth, teeth, and oral cavity clean, clear, fluoride-free and to combat viral diseases.
